8 Years Later, I'm Even More Grateful I Took the Leap
This summer marks eight years since I made one of the biggest decisions of my career: becoming a full-time REALTOR®.
At the time, I had no idea where the journey would take me. I didn't know what the housing market would do, how many incredible people I would get to work with, or what my business would eventually become. I just knew three things: I loved helping people, I loved my hometown, and I was willing to work really hard to build something meaningful.
Looking back now, I'm so thankful I took the leap.
People often see the highlight reel of real estate. They see the sold signs, the closing photos, the happy smiles on move-in day, and the keys changing hands. What they don't always see are the early mornings, late-night contract revisions, weekend showings, difficult negotiations, and countless phone calls that happen behind the scenes. They don't see the deals that almost fall apart, the inspections that uncover surprises, or the moments where everyone has to work together to find a solution.
It's a career that can be incredibly rewarding, but it also asks a lot of you.
In fact, many people who get into real estate don't stay in it very long. It's an industry that requires resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to keep learning because no two transactions are ever the same. Over the past eight years, I've worked through booming markets, slower markets, historically low interest rates, rising interest rates, bidding wars, multiple-offer situations, appraisal challenges, financing changes, and just about every curveball you can imagine.
Every market has looked different, but one thing has stayed exactly the same.
Real estate has never really been about houses.
It's about people.
It's about sitting across from someone who's making one of the biggest financial decisions of their life and helping them feel confident instead of overwhelmed. It's about understanding that every move has a story behind it. Sometimes it's a first home after years of saving. Sometimes it's making room for a growing family. Sometimes it's downsizing after the kids have moved out. Sometimes it's relocating for work, returning home after military service, or starting completely over after an unexpected life change.
Every transaction represents a new chapter, and I've never taken that responsibility lightly.
Over the last eight years, I've had the privilege of helping hundreds of families buy and sell homes throughout Kitsap County. Every client has taught me something. Every transaction has made me a better advocate, a better negotiator, and a better listener. There isn't a single closing that feels routine because every person's goals, concerns, and dreams are different.
One of my favorite parts of this job is watching people's confidence grow throughout the process. Buyers who begin the journey convinced they'll never find the right home eventually get the keys in their hands. Sellers who are nervous about listing their house realize they were more prepared than they thought. Those moments never get old.
Being born and raised in Bremerton makes this work even more meaningful. I don't just work here—I live here, shop here, support local businesses here, and care deeply about this community. I've watched neighborhoods change, downtown continue to grow, and Kitsap County become a place that more and more people are proud to call home. Helping people put down roots in the same community that shaped me is something I'll never take for granted.
Of course, this business isn't built alone. Behind every successful transaction is an incredible team of professionals who make the process possible. Lenders, escrow officers, inspectors, contractors, photographers, title representatives, movers, cleaners, and fellow agents all play an important role in helping clients reach the closing table. I'm incredibly thankful for each of them.
Most of all, I'm thankful for my clients.
To everyone who has trusted me with one of the biggest decisions of your life, thank you. To everyone who has referred a friend, shared my name, recommended my business, or simply followed along over the years, thank you. Small businesses are built on relationships, and I wouldn't be here without yours.
Eight years later, I still get excited every time I call someone to tell them their offer has been accepted. I still celebrate every closing, whether it's a first-time buyer or someone purchasing their fifth home. I still love driving around Kitsap County looking at houses, talking strategy with clients, and helping people figure out what comes next.
If anything, these past eight years have reminded me that success isn't measured by the number of homes sold. It's measured by the trust people place in you, the relationships you build, and the opportunity to make a positive impact in someone's life during a major milestone.
I'm incredibly grateful for the last eight years, and even more excited for what's ahead. Here's to continuing to serve this amazing community, helping more families find their place in Kitsap County, and never losing sight of why I started in the first place.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
